Priscilla Presleyis givingSofia Coppolaher flowers ahead of the release of the new biopicPriscilla.
“When I read Priscilla’s memoir, I was just struck with what an unusual, wild ride her life has been,” Coppola says in the clip, which prompts Priscilla to quip that “It’s a long story.”
Coppola further noted that “we know so much about Elvis, and it was really important to me to show the story through Priscilla’s experiences.”
For Priscilla, the decision to work with Coppola on the project is one that stems from a deeply-rooted respect for her style of writing and filmmaking.
“I’ve seen all of her movies. And her sensitivity, her understanding of women, she really puts her heart and soul into it,” she said. “I would never do this with anyone else.”
Coppola highlighted her love “to be immersed in someone else’s world” while creating a film. “You can really relate to all of the things that she went through. The fun of it and also the struggles and the isolation,” she added of Priscilla’s life.

“She just got me, and I trusted her,” Priscilla said.
Priscilla got emotional in avideoof the film’s world premiere at the 2023 Venice Film Festival previously shared on X (formerly Twitter).
“It’s very difficult to sit and watch a film about you and about your life and about your love," Priscilla told reporters at the festival. “I think Sofia did an amazing job, she did her homework. We spoke a couple of times and I really put everything out for her that I could.”
