As reported in theMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society , astronomers believe they have find a population of asteroids in the solar system that were steal from another star . There are 19 of these interstellar objects , 17 of which belong to a radical of asteroids called the Centaurs , which orb between the giant planet of the solar system , and two from beyond the orbit of Neptune .
All 19 objects have a high inclination with obedience to the orbital plane of the solar system where the planet more or less reside . When Dr Fathi Namouni and Dr Maria Helena Morais ran a pretence , they feel that the asteroid did not reach their reach by lifting themselves above the orbital plane , but were orb much further out than the planets and in a frigid orbit , close to 90 arcdegree from the sleep of the objects in the solar system . These two facts suggest they did not form with the other planet , comets , and asteroid ; rather , they may have been snap from another mavin when the Sun and the solar organisation where still within the stellar baby’s room from which they mold . “ The nigh proximity of the whizz meant that they matte up each others ’ gravity much more powerfully in those early days than they do today , ” tip writer Dr Namouni , from the Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur , said in astatement . “ This enabled asteroid to be pulled from one virtuoso system to another . ”
If these objects formed around another star , they are of Brobdingnagian scientific value . Their similarity and differences with asteroid that mould in the solar system of rules might tell us more about where the Sun come from .
“ The discovery of a whole universe of asteroid of interstellar root is an authoritative step in understanding the strong-arm and chemic law of similarity and differences between Solar System - born and interstellar asteroids , ” comment Dr Morais .
She added : “ This universe will give us clues about the Sun ’s early birth clustering , how interstellar asteroid capture occurred , and the purpose that interstellar affair had in chemically enriching the Solar System and shaping its phylogenesis . ”
