Mariah Carey’s twins are budding performers.
The musical icon, 54, revealed toAccessthat her twins —son Moroccan and daughter Monroe, 12, who she shares with ex-husbandNick Cannon— will join her for herBillboard Music Awardsperformance, airing Nov. 19.
“I love it. I love seeing them stepping into this performance space, this music space, and the fact that they’re eager to do it, that’s on them,” she said.
“I never say ‘you guys gotta do this,’ you know? It’s whatever they want to do and they’re rehearsing for it and going for it and really working hard, so that’s impressive to me.”

While chatting exclusively with PEOPLE about hernew holiday campaignwithThe Children’s Placelast month, the singer opened up about her two kids growing up.
“Don’t rush all of our lives,” the proud mom said with a laugh. “They’re still 12.”
According to Carey, getting to watch Moroccan and Monroe grow into young adults is “actually really beautiful.”
“They’re good, nice kids,” she continued. “They’re kind-hearted people, and I really enjoy being around them and watching them grow up into the people that they’re ultimately going to become.”
“They’re into activities like physical sports and stuff like that, which I was hoping they would be because when they were little, I had them doing that,” she explained. “Then, when it was COVID, they really couldn’t go anywhere and do anything. So now they’re both really enjoying activities and sports and all of that.”
