Jaime Ray Newmanis recounting a difficult experience she had with a potential director.
In a conversation withThe Retaility,Newman, 45, and herEastwickcostarLindsay Price, 47, discussed how they balance motherhood with their professional careers. Newman, who shares her two daughters — Mila Nico, 4, and Alma Ness, 5 — with husband Guy Nattiv, reflected on an uncomfortable experience she had during a casting session when she was pregnant.
“I remember that I was up for a pilot when I was pregnant and the director — I had to disclose that I was pregnant. And the director said, ‘So would you be okay with a scheduled c-section?’ " Newman revealed.
TheGoldaactress continued, “And now I think about that, that’s f—— crazy. That’s so gross. That’s so disgusting. And that’s in the ways that our business has changed for the better,” the mom of two said.

“If a director told me that now, I would go to the network and say, ‘This was just told to me,' " Newman added. “So I feel like we have more power now in terms of that. And I remember I was terrified to tell anybody that I was [pregnant] until I started showing. Whereas now, I feel like there’s more sensitivity.”
In 2019, Newman welcomed her second daughter after a long road to motherhood. The actress underwent IVF and had multiple miscarriages,as well as a stillbirth in 2013.
Newman’s two daughters were born via a surrogate, and her daughter Mila was born 15 weeks early.

“Mila came home today, ending this stressful, exhausting journey and making us happy parents once again,” she added.
