You would n’t know it driving through the streets , but in the spring of 2017 , two huge Marvel movies were at the same time shooting in Atlanta . At Pinewood Studios , it was Avengers : Infinity War . Down the street at Screen Gems Studio , it was Black Panther . And the timing could n’t have been more complete .
As audiences clearly sawin the first teaser trailerfor Avengers : Infinity War , at least some of that moving picture takes place in Black Panther ’s fundamental location Wakanda , but since Black Panther would n’t be finish before Infinity War go into production , the squad behind Infinity War had to closely knead with the team behind Black Panther . It was the only way to make certain the Wakanda built for Infinity War matched , and go on , the Wakanda seen in its herald .
“ So what [ Infinity War director the Russo Brothers ] would do is , they would send their output design team and their VFX team to come pass prison term with me and our production excogitation and VFX squad , ” Black Panther co - writer and film director Ryan Coogler told io9 this week . “ And they would require interrogative . Even with their author [ Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely ] , as they were writing , they were thinking about , ‘ What tantrum does this ? ’ ‘ What kind of things in the Wakanda that you are building have these thing ? ’ ‘ Where would this variety of thing happen ? ’ So as we were really fleshing out Wakanda , we would tell them all about it so that their idea could track . ”
The same blend in for the actors who appear in both films . “ [ The Infinity War squad ] would pass time with our actors when they could , just so they could get ready to do what they need to do in their cinema , ” Coogler articulate .
It ’s not really a surprisal that Marvel Studios had that degree of organization and communicating ; a fully integrated Marvel Cinematic Universe would be impossible without it . But , funny enough , as this was actually happening , no one on lot was able to admit the talks were happening because , at that clip , the fact that Infinity War partly take home in Wakanda was a spoiler .
“ You ca n’t ask me that , ” Black Panther star Chadwick Bosemansaid during our February 2017 put visitwhen asked about the simultaneous productions . “ I do n’t cognize anything about that . ” He was lying , but we ’re ok with that .
