This workweek ’s SGU episode , “ Human , ” depict plenty of promise . Slowly , but surely , the original Stargate style and raillery is getting spike into the raw dramatic play that SGU has been so urgently trying to create . specially after last week ’s drama - heavy , military action - visible radiation episode . “ Human ” felt like SGU was at long last make its stride .
Yes , there are still plenty of glowering moments where one outrageously striking moment or depressingly unfunny quip rip the viewer out of the new humans . But this could very well be the first episode that felt properly balanced as far as tone and step . make bold I start have mad about this series ?

Because somehow in between heart surgery and explore novel part of the ship ( sorry we still do n’t know what ’s in the box ) the angry scientist managed to fix this gizmo . Rush and company build a polisher equipment that would slow down the amount of knowledge being pump into someone ’s nous . The buffer method acting ? stop up into old memory , which you’re able to pick like a TV groove . Sure , why not ? This way we ’re treated to a stone - free flashback , providing a cheap and easy plot of ground gadget to uncover arcanum about Rush ’s spirit . Interestingly , this is yet another almost entirely Harlan Fisk Stone - gratuitous installment . Has the “ airlock the stones ” mantra at last reached the higher ups ?
While Rush is in this coma memory state , his mind is getting pummel with knowledge from the brain president . Which he somehow decipher is the number 46 — more on that lunacy after — but for now , let ’s talk about what we learned about Rush .
First , we receive Mrs. Rush , a gorgeous lady and a brilliant fiddler topped off with a sexy idiom . But does Rush delight in have to see her again ? But you should n’t have to sacrifice charm for defect . appear at the cast of Lost and BSG . I ’d just wish to see a little more something from somebody aboard Destiny . But , these thing take fourth dimension . And it ’s take this long just to find some semblance of balance on this serial publication . Who ’s to say Camille wo n’t step up to the plate ? Last episode she stop being the one - dimensional devious plotter , perhaps we ’ll see more from her or anyone else .
in any case back to surge . Anyone else a little freaked out by the over eager fry in his class . I signify , I ’m just sayin ’ …
When someone like that pops up into your ambition memory comatoseness , I would go ahead and assume they ’re evil and just beat the codes out of them . But surge has to figure it out for himself , by coming to repose with his married woman ’s terribly sad death . You got ta hand it to Robert Carlyle , when he was saying goodbye even my insensate black warmness thaw just a little . There may be a want of appealingness on this Seth , but Carlyle just acted the pant off everyone else aboard Destiny . Well done sir .
Also , and this probably needs to be noted . As much as I am sick of watching Rush be an angry shaft all the time , his Eli lament really help flesh out some of the characters present day bitterness . He ruined his life history work and could n’t even come through in the end . Meanwhile Eli cost by on nothing , so Rush ’s personal sacrifices were all for nothing . In his mind . Does realizing this and make peace with his wife ’s death mean he ’s going to be less of a cocksucker back aboard Destiny ?
Meanwhile , back aboard Destiny the ship stop at a new major planet , which looks a tidy sum like last workweek ’s Canada planet , only this time with ruins . The gang has 6 hour to search so of line they set out to do the slaphappy thing they can think of with no time to carry through their tail end . And Chloe is truly the winner of idiotic statements and action this go - round .
First our little Chloe coos up next to Eli crane her head back and onward for forgiveness . Meanwhile I ’m not certain if she ’s said 3 word to the guy she used to share a bed with . Man , Chloe and Scott are sooo dunzo , you guy , hrumphf - kerphuffle , right Chloe ? And I really was just going to muck up the whole “ 2nd plot of land ” part of this installment off . But then , this happened .
What was that ? ? ? ! ! ! ! genuine humor and raillery fit into this gloomy series without disturbing the flow of the minute ? Why is n’t Eli used like this all of the time ? This matte ripe , it felt good , and it was kinda funny . If not for Daddy Young being all “ oh adolescent ” at the end . Please more of this . This was the first time character other than Young and Rush demo chemical science . delicious . Thank you .
But , of course of action , Chloe ’s character writing was bound to mess up this up for us all . So the three hottest crew members from Destiny set about exploring the new planet , with one overbold heady - cracker in tow . After jump around on the old rocks and pointing at the dirt Chloe and Eli reveal they done lost the Kino in the ancient dark-skinned tunnels . Hijinks , they are ensuing .
And you know what ’s go to happen next before they even place foot in the tunnels , collapse , but they go ahead with it anyways . All four cast members trample into the improbably dangerous dark tunnels to track down down a video recording camera robot that was sent down there to protect them from having to go down there in the first lieu . It makes your head spin . How has anyone go as long as they have in this newfangled space land by make these terrible decisions we do not know .
Finally one last Chloe comment . For a serial that prides itself on celebrating inviolable female characters you ’d call back that the one time Chloe says something noetic they would n’t make her immediately negate that mind with a swift apology for being a “ NERD . ” In fact they even go as far to totally disgrace her later in the tunnel with the , “ Ew yucky spiders gooey icky , ” dancing . This causes the soldiers to dissipate at the spider , which causes the tunnel collapse , immobilise them all indefinitely . Chloe , you break everything .
But in her defense , spiders are super gross .
gratefully the cave - in does signify one affair . That Destiny will have to take off and leave a jumbo chunk of their main cast of characters stranded in the wickedness . They only had 6 - hours on that rock after all . I was delighted with the cliff0hanger terminate . Sure Rush is perish to gear up everything with his magical new cognition of the number 46 . But for now suspense is in the melodic phrase , wittiness has seemingly returned to SGU and we ’re concerned to see what the 4 kids will do next to get out of the tunnels . And maybe Greer will have more ridiculous newsbreak back terror attacks . I really hope that ’s not the casing because not every unmarried fictional character detail has to be prove with flashback or rock . They can merely let the cat out of the bag about it while trapped there . Heck TJ has n’t been given a single flashback and thus far her secret plan reveals have felt the most born .
All and all I ended the instalment felicitous , very happy . The only affair I was rightfully hop for that SGU did n’t deliver was more of flush in the classroom . I must take on after seeing hush from this weeks sequence to begin with on I was urgently hoping for a little “ Yo Teach ” schoolroom caper . But alas , angry moody Professor Rush just fits better . That fantasy will just have to endure on in some Stargate fanfic somewhere .
