What We Do in the Shadowsclosed out San Diego Comic - Con ’s Hall H programming Sunday with a preview of this calendar week ’s “ Night Market ” episode and a lively word among the roll and creative team ofwhat to bear this season . Showrunner Paul Simms and writer Stefani Robinsonteased thatnot only are we getting that Blade - inspired nightclub as the focal gunpoint , but also a “ full - on vampire wedding . ”
Whose wedding remains to be see — and cast panelists Matt Berry , Kayvan Novak , Natasia Demetriou , Harvey Guillén , Mark Proksch , and Kristen Schaal were n’t splatter any details . Of course we ’re hop thatNandor finally sees married couple potential in Guillermoas he ’s leave his phantasm , but no matter what find there , the familiar really gets to step out on his own path this time of year , something showcased on thisweek ’s instalment . We wo n’t go into too many spoilers but there ’s a primal scene ( which was in a trailer ! ) where we pay back to see Nandor and Guillermo go toe to toe with swords .
During the venire Guillén share with the interview how he and Novak ready for the scene . “ That was , I think , the large stunt to day of the month , ” he aver . “ Kayvan and I got a lot of hour of preparation with that sword . And in the eye of wintertime were practice in his apartment over and over . And it just nerveless . It just have it all occur together — ”

Novak chime in , “ A lot of hours of twiddling my sword and play with my sword and putting my sword up against Harvey ’s sword . It was a lot of fun . ”
Guillén expressed his excitement on showcasing more of his Van Helsing family fighting attainment with his preferent natural action bit thus far . “ I came up with plancha . ” he said of his finishing move last time of year . “ And if you know , you live . So I think plancha was really fun . But I like the seriousness and the intensiveness of that scene with Nandor because that line has become one of my favorite lines , like , ‘ The only reason you ’re awake is because I let you live . ’ It became so vivid that it made for a better , volatile stunt conniption . And then this [ tantrum in the ] Night Market , just because of the food market itself , was up there as well . ”
When it comes to the latent hostility that ’s build up between Nandor and “ Gizmo , ” the scrap certainly shows it off — but , as Guillén discussed , this season will show that Guillermo is moving past it in some way . “ We ’ve all been in love with someone from far off that we do n’t to have the courage to say anything . And so , like , being Guillermo was like we ’ve all been a Guillermo , ” he pronounce . “ I think that he ’s now realizing that it ’s putting himself first and this season he ’s had enough . But the only reasonableness he stays is because there ’s a baby now in the house full of vampires who are , you make out , in their own way , maternal , but have not had to do this for hundreds of years in any sort of fashion . So I think it really resonates with him because he does say that line of reasoning : ‘ My mama worked a lot when I was short and I had to drop a lot of clock time by myself and no Thomas Kid should have to go through that . ’ ”
Showrunner Simms expand . “ Speaking of dear , coming up for the rest of the season , we will be talking about Guillermo ’s chosen pick out family members , the vampires , and we ’ll meet Guillermo ’s real family and get some real insight . ”
fan will no doubt be excited to see who will be showing up to play the extended De La Cruz lamia hunt household — and Guillén is very worked up for viewing audience to meet them . “ Representation matters , ” he said to rapt applause . “ You get laid , you want to see yourself on screenland . And that does make a difference of opinion , specially with such a specific genre likewe have — it ’s comedy , but it ’s barbarian and it ’s dark and it ’s dark clowning , and you do n’t see a lot of Latinos in that world . So I gladly will be one of what will hopefully be many . ”
