We talked to Crispin Glover about live back in time 25 years for Hot Tub Time Machine , a quarter hundred after Back To The Future premier . And he told us about playing Nikola Tesla ’s boozy nemesis , Thomas Edison .

That was done pretty superficially . I ’m carry a property against a pre - sculted ice piece . I had to cultivate with a rig for the throwing of the chainsaw that I was working with . So there ’s a trivial bit of rehearsing with that . But it was nothing extensive , the relaxation of it was performing with the hearing .

There are so many variable it ’s almost impossible to answer unless you are in the exactitude of the story plot that ’s been construct .

Yes I would say important than the seemingly conjecturable rules , what ’s more interesting about the time traveling sub - genre in science fiction and fantasy , is the psychological elements that can be played with by variations of the fantastical theory of alternate universes . That ’s an interesting matter to explore and I believe that ’s the honest economic value of the time travelling sub - musical style .
Do you have a draw of affection for the sub - literary genre and why ?
I think it ’s interesting specially because of what I just described . I consider there is something about it that let you to explore interesting affair and there ’s a stack of fun in that .

I ’m on this program on HBO Called Drunk chronicle where they get somebody highly inebriated , to the spot where they are about to be sickish , well they are loathsome . And they get them to tell an episode from history . Then they get actors to reenact these report . The one that I did was with John C. Reilly , who play Nikola Tesla and I wreak Thomas Edison . There ’s a series of these that have been made [ they won the Sundance award for Best Short Film ] . I particularly like that they admit that when they are telling these history , you ’re always get a slightly skew translation of what actually happen . So it ’s credibly a more truthful way of telling the story as when you ’re get a drab reading . This at least admit that it ’s slimly off . But it acquire to the emotional heart of what is going on .
It ’s a good matter . These things are only about seven transactions long . It ’s more focused on Tesla and Edison ’s sort of antagonistic relationship with Tesla . There ’s a battle that bump between the two of them .
