For its midseason finale , iZombie resolve to destroy the foundations of everyone ’s workplace . And also , somehow , bear the best Major plot of ground ever .

This hebdomad ’s slaying is of one of those “ real life ” costumed vigilantes . His name is the Fog and he interrupt the wrong mugging . Eating his brain bugger off Liv , no electric shock , all hopped up on superhero fetichism . Which Ravi , for the disc , is wholly on board with . He suggests “ Super dead , ” “ Doctor Power , ” “ Dead Power , ” “ Doctor Dead , ” and “ Snow Woman . ” Also “ Mighty Whitey , ” which Liv justly points out would make her the favorite of the KKK .
All of our season - foresightful plots come home to perch this hebdomad . The terrific law-breaking boss Mr. … Boss ( thanks writer , that ’s not sticky at all ) is back in the guise of a humble CPA / Santa . Because the mugging that Fog interrupted ? Was n’t so much a mugging as it was one of his accelerator deals gone wrong . Boss helpfully kills one of the “ muggers”—and knavishly drapes his eubstance on a Christmas tree . That ’s how he keeps his power . Everyone decease the 2d they slip up .
Something Liv set out to witness first hand , when she dresses up in a costume and goes to Boss ’ warehouse . Where she observe a cluster of gunrunner , goes full zombi spirit , and is about to be shot by the mugging “ dupe , ” when Boss shows up and “ saves ” her . ( Liv ’s a zombi , it might have just urinate her off . )
This one plot has a figure of repercussions . Liv ’s clearly got the attention of Boss , which ca n’t be a good affair . Also , we get the first of a number of big news second . Clive resolve that Liv ’s foolhardiness is the last straw for him in the whole “ partnering with a psychic ME and letting her do a lot of things MEs should n’t do ” thing . He ends their transcription .
On the one hand , I ’m kind of lamentable the show ’s writers mat up that the understanding this devastate Liv needed to be spelled out . Liv justifies her eating of brains by also helping to solve their murders , allow good to result from her predicament . lose that mean she ’s just another zombie plundering the lives of others to subsist . One murder aside from being Blaine , basically .
Speaking of Blaine , he read up with a pop off “ source of tainted Utopium ” in tow , and forces Liv to turn the guy cable so that they do n’t misplace the source . turn people has n’t get great for Liv , so that ’s another footstep down the unethical zombie road she ’s claim .
And then there ’s Major . I actually really care a lot of Major ’s plot this week — save that they get going the traditional “ Richard Hooker with a heart of Au ” angle on it . Major meets a woman in a barroom who is a zombie . Major ’s gotten a rep as the zombie boogie-woogie valet — you know , from all those zombies he disappear — and she ’s essentially trying to commit suicide by Major .
The two of them , Major and Natalie , have an real heart - to - heart , which result in Major understanding the emphasis that take all these other people in her head is causing Liv .
Major get Natalie in on his plan , which is to tranquillise and late freeze the living dead until Ravi ’s able to replicate the remedy . And then , he can wake them up and set them free . I think he ’s banking on them being too grateful to press charges .
So she voluntarily gets in the Deepfreeze , asking Major to kill her rather than rent her become one of the mindless sort of zombi spirit . Which is heartbreaking all on its own . The two actors are really honorable in these scene . I only wish Liv and Major ever connected like this .
Which , it turns out , is what everyone is thinking . Since Major , even with his new empathy , still thinks of everything with Liv as being temporary . Just like he thinks he can keep stall until zombies can be cured . He ’s very short - sighted when it comes to this issue . He still thinks that everything can just eventually go back to normal .
Liv points out that , even if the personality shift are impermanent , the no - sexual urge affair is n’t . And even if Ravi work the therapeutic , she ’s not the same individual she was . Major is n’t either , for all he does n’t seem to yield a lot of attention to that . So their relationship ends again .
To top off the loss of Major and Clive in Liv ’s life , Ravi sees that the “ therapeutic ” was in reality only temporary . Zombierat is snake god once again . And Ravi does n’t know what that means for Major or Blaine . And it means he has to go back to square one .
The state of Liv is dark going into the hiatus . Which lay down the frame gadget — Liv on superhero - obsessed brain — somewhat perfect . Liv ’s fundamentally been a superhero this whole sentence . She has special powers and she fight crime with a hole-and-corner identity element . And once she really puts on a mask , she mislay it all .
The installment even ends with Ravi doing voiceover and Liv strike the lonely hero posture on a roof . I ca n’t wait to see how she manages to recover from any of this . Or if she does n’t and this show becomes fatal than black .
