Is Kensington ’s WiFi detector a hound ? on the face of it there have been legions of complainst about how it does n’t detect 802.11 g networks ( like Kensington originally claimed it would ) , has trouble picking up anything except very secure 802.11b access points , and that it ’s design to ignore cypher networks . We ’ve been playing around with SmartID ’s WiFi Detector , and so far we ’ve found it incredibly useful . It picks up both 802.11b and 802.11 M networks , and can even secern between WiFi and the sign from a 2.4GHz cordless phone .
