Andor may have justwrapped its first seasonon Disney+ , but the Star Wars series is still very much on the minds of viewers who could n’t get enough of itsexciting plotand itsmemorable reference . One of the most adorable was droid B2EMO , faithful companion to Cassian Andor ’s female parent , Maarva .
In a new interview withStarWars.com , showrunner Tony Gilroytalked about how the droid , an instant buff - favourite , was created — admit the intake behind his obstinately truehearted , somewhat doddering manner : “ The idea was that it was a frank , an old dog , ” he said . Gilroy praised credit rating creature effects supervisor Neal Scanlan and his squad for the design , which came together quick — and cope with with instant winner . “ We were all smiling , ” Gilroy remember of the mo the image was revealed .
And in case you were wondering about B2EMO ’s interpreter , it come from a root both surprising and not - so - surprising at the same time : Dave Chapman , a veteran Star Wars puppeteer who operated the droid on - set . “ I recall have a leaning of tryout pieces and watching a bunch of them , ” Gilroy said . “ My brother John was over there one day , and he goes , ‘ I ’m not hearing anything here I like as much as [ Dave ] . ’ He run , ‘ This guy ’s really good . ’ And we go back and were like , ‘ human , get ’s just keep him . ’ So that ’s his phonation , and that was a great phone call to make — to call him up and go , ‘ It ’s yours . You ’re gon na be the voice of this affair . ’ ” Gilroy mark that Chapman , who has allow many on - set vocal in his career , only to see the final intersection swap in an actor for the dialogue , was “ overwhelmed ” by his inclusion in Andor — as many Andor fans were in turn by his poignant operation .
