You ’d think a major vantage of robots is you may mass - produce them . They ’re just alloy - and - circuit body . But science fiction is full of one - of - a - kind bots . Here are all the bots for whom they broke the modeling .
We ’ve divided our list of weirdly unique golem into four categories : observational paradigm , freaky one - offs make for a specific purpose , the creations of mad inventors tinkering in their labs , and robot building other robots from scrap . There ’s probably some lap between these category – sore scientists often create a one - off golem , thinking it ’s a paradigm for a whole line of similar bot – but we ’ll try and keep them straight as good we can .
Some ready notes . Two of the most iconic robots on this listing actually both have twin pal , and one of them even had a separate prototype . But since all five of these robot were the product of individual roboticists and never meant as part of a larger yield stemma , we ’re still include them . Plus , this tilt would be simply uncomplete without them .
There are also quite a few robots on here who got reconstruct when they were put down or lost . Technically , that means they ’re not unparalleled . We ’re keeping them on the list as long as , broadly speaking , we only saw them sequentially and the intention was n’t to allow for for multiple copies to interact . ( As with most thing , time change of location does run to perplex this . )
Finally , one of the cunning show to deal with was Futurama , which has a huge variety of robots , any of which could be unique . To keep this lean manageable , we zero in on the ones that were either explicitly entail to be the only one , or those that no one in their veracious mind would ever great deal - produce ( I mean , who would mass - produce gangster robot ? ) .
