arrant proportion . It ’s how we delimitate sweetheart , but photography be given to shy off from it . Here are 19 pieces of proof that symmetry really is beautiful .
Winner : The Beer Can BuildingWhen this challenge was herald , I knew on the button what I wanted to hit . I ’ve taken a lot pictures of this building , and even accede one to a previous Shooting Challenge . This is Tampa ’s Rivergate Tower , known topically as “ The Beer Can Building ” . To get the reverse linear perspective , I rent the shot lay down , expect straight up at the building . While the building is an exercise in symmetry , the case-by-case pieces of the limestone frontal have all become melt and stained to differing stage . This adds a nice random result to forestall the harmonious construction . I shot the picture in black and lily-white on my Nikon D3100 set at 1/60 sec , f/29 , ISO 100 , with a 18 -55 millimetre lens @ 50 mm . In Photoshop CS5 , I rotated the epitome 0.5 degrees , cropped the edges after revolve , and adapt the exposure and contrast just a scrap to make everything pop .

Levitated Mass
Located at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art ( LACMA ) , the “ Levitated Mass ” is a 340 - gross ton hunk of granite . This sculpture is simple and powerful . One thing I eff most about walking under the rock and roll was the light in the hall . Half of the hallway was enlighten , and the other in phantom . My favourite part is the line create from the bottom - left wing of the inning to the top - right . The shadow butt on see with the border of the paries creating a line of symmetry . restrain up to a ruler , it ’s a most perfect unbent line . Shot with a Nikon D5100 , 18 mm , 1/1600sec , f/4 , ISO 320 .

Buckminsterfullerene
One of the most symmetrical molecule is C60 , also known as Fullerene or ‘ buckyball ’ . It consist of 60 carbon paper atoms , arranged as 12 pentagon and 20 hexagon . There are 120 correspondence process that can be performed on it . Once upon a time I built a model that still resides on the edge of my projection screen . I think it was the perfect object to shoot for this challenge . My setup : canyon 5D with EF28 - 135 millimeter at 65 mm , 1/100sec , f/9 . visible light Are Symmetrical !
ignitor are Symmetrical ! I found this out the hard way . After looking everywhere in nature for the past few days I found that it is indeed jolly hard to get what I was look for in term of “ Symmetry ” . This does n’t really seem to be eye confect to me but it was really the best I could come up with since I have n’t in reality had much time lately . dash with a Canon powershot sx260hs f/3.5 iso 200 . Not much of a narrative behind it but I think it at least grasps symmetry very well .

Kiting
I was shooting at Gay Parade Minneapolis , on a sunny clear Clarence Shepard Day Jr. , when this kite catch my attention . It was fly indiscriminately , held by someone dancing on the parade . I shoot twice until … one of those moments , the kite and the wind instrument seemed just stand still a fraction of 2nd lined up with the line of the building … one still can see the black wire … Camera : CANON G10 , Lenses : 80 mm , ISO : 100 .

wait for Pizza
When a friend calls at noon on a Friday to see if you want to go on a spur of the moment weekend tripper to San Francisco , you just have to say yes . While walking with booster and waiting for our Tony ’s pizza to be ready , I find this really cool church and instantly thought of the symmetry shooting challenge . The twin spires of the Saint ’s Peter and Paul Church leap out of the cityscape and I knew there was a cool impression to be made . I in the beginning imagine that it would calculate coolheaded as a silhouette , but it feel just wrong to overlay up all that intricate detail , so I left in in there . I could n’t get the church exactly centered without there being a tree branch in the way , but I get pretty stuffy . I used my Fuji X100 at f/4 , 1/10 , ISO-3200 to get the shot .

Sugarloaf Mountain
I went hiking on Sugarloaf Mountain in Frederick , Maryland this weekend , and I figured I would look for some natural symmetricalness — pretty certain there will be many other connection in this gallery . I was hoping to find a basalt shaping ( they are here and there in my area ) , but no luck . It ’s a little wash out ( previous afternoon sun ) but I really like the way ‘ ole “ spidey ” keep his kills in a squeamish straight descent to ensure the maximal amount of internet stay on to take out more unsuspecting bugs vaporize by . canyon T5i Canon EF S18 - 135 STM lens . ISO 160 / Auto .

The Blues
I took this shot while testing out my new ND filter . I used my Canon T1i , a kit lens , and my tripod . I plant my aperture to f/4.5 with 1/40th sec exposure at ISO-200 . I endeavor to find issue off the tucker itinerary , but at times I felt like I was somewhere I was n’t supposed to be . I never saw any “ No Trespassing ” polarity , so I took my shots and left . I was n’t very emotional about this pellet until I after I got it on my computer . Tweeked it a second in Lightroom , and this is what I ended up with .

Empire Welcome Mat
I was in business district NYC at the Empire State Building looking for symmetric thing to shoot . The building itself is perfect symmetry but as I was walk around in the lobby I came upon this behind the main desk in the lobby . The elbow room the building is figure with reflected rays around it made a just symmetrical scene . This was shot with my Canon 550D camera using a 50 millimetre f1.4 lens . The aperture was 1/125 sec at f1.4 in aperture precedence mode , appraising metering and center weight centering . I used a sluggish 100 ISO speed and burgeon forth the picture in RAW data formatting . change to JPG with a slight body of work in Canon ’s DPP program .

Double Trouble
This is a simple smartphone shot ( iPhone 5 ) . I did n’t have my SLR with me at the time and look back , it does n’t wait like I need it . Chihuly Garden
I shot the exposure at the Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle , an awesome place showing sculptures by the American creative person Dale Chihuly . I feel like I was walking in a dream with some amazing apparatus for the sculptures . I was just having a good time walking around when I visit an opportunity for a proportion photo , I could only take one injection because the surety ask me politely to not place the camera in the glass holding the sculpture . After he said that , I wanted to take more photos so bad , but I had nothing else to do but just rent it go and delight the rest of the exhibit . I used my Canon T4i at f8 , 1/40sec ISO400 with a 18 - 200 millimetre lens system .

It ’s A Chair !
OK — I do n’t have a tripod . Or a point . Or a dedicated television camera . I do have a camera on my phone , a electric chair , and a brick wall . Seemed like a good idea at the clock time . This pictorial matter was taken with the front tv camera on my HTC Droid DNA with standard automatic exposure background ( 1/40 sec shutter , ISO-224 , 4 mm focal duration , no flashbulb ) . Owing to prison term and circumstance ( and lack of tripod ) , I did end up using Paint . NET to crop off a small slice of the left-hand side of the paradigm . No other adjustments were made .

Jefferson ’s Ceiling
This photo was direct while laying on the floor of the Jefferson Memorial in Washington DC looking up at the interior of the rotunda . I thought it was a coolheaded crack the way that all the squares align perfectly and you really can not tell if the squares get small or if it is an optical magic as they get farther away from the camera . This was shot with my Nikon D5000 at f/4 , 1/60sec . @ ISO 400 .

It Would Make A Beautiful Bug Zapper
After drop most of the day walking around the city count for pictures , I remember I had some ornamental filament bulbs set around my apartment . I exploit the socket cord to my kitchen bulwark , turned out the illumination , and shot away ! It was kind of tough get it to stay at the right slant . Canon Rebel xsi , Canon 100 mm f2.8 macro USM , ISO 200 , F8 , 1/100 .

electric cell Towering
This is a flick of a cell tower i took today at study using my item and inject canyon power shot A3100 IS . Ironically , I did n’t acknowledge about the contest and i just contract this motion picture thinking it would look nerveless , and that ’s the only camera I happened to have on me . The pic is unedited , just used the b / w setting on the camera . All other options were auto .
